Genesis 37-50

– because Jacob loved him the most, and because of the dreams(prophesies) that he was having about them.

(Gen 37:4-5)

– He was to begin and have dominion over his brothers, and the sun, moon and stars bowed to him.

(Gen 37:5-9)

– They stripped him of his coat of many colors and tossed him into a pit without water so that he could starve to death, and they planned to tell their father that he was eaten by wild beasts. (Gen 37:20-24)

– They eventually sold him to the Midianite merchants for 20 pieces of silver. (Gen 37:25-28)
– Most of Joseph’s brothers wanted to kill him, Reuben wanted to save him, Judah wanted to make a profit off of him and sell him.

– to get Judah to sleep with her, after he failed to give is son Shelah to her for a husband.

– Potipher’s wife had been trying to sleep with Joseph and when he would not sleep with her, she lied on Joseph and told Potiphar that Joseph tried to rape her.

(Gen: 39:7-20)

The Lord caused the top prison official to shew Joseph mercy by giving him charge over all of the other prisoners.  

(Gen 39:21-23)

– There was going to be a very harsh famine in the land of Egypt for 7 years. (Gen 41:25-32)
– Pharaoh was to store up all of the food (corn) from the fifth part of the land during the 7 plenteous years and keep it for the people to survive through the famine. (Gen 41:34-36)

– Pharaoh made Joseph ruler and 2nd in command in all of Egypt. HE also gave him jewels and a wife. 

(Gen 41:40-46)

– When they came to Joseph for food, Joseph knew who they were but they didn’t recognize him. 

– He told them he thought they were spies and held Simeon as a ransom and sent the others back to go get there youngest brother Benjamin.

(Gen 42)

– Joseph set them up again to look like they had stolen his silver cup. This kept Benjamin and let the others go. He eventually revealed to them that he was. He had them go get Jacob and their families and going them to Egypt where they would bed fed, because there were still 5 years of famine left.

(Gen 45)

– He went to Beer-Sheba to offer sacrifices to God.

(Gen 46:1)

– 66, or 70 including Joseph’s kids (not including the wives of his sons).

(Gen 46:26-27)

– he lived in Egypt for 17 years and died at the age of 147.

– He died at 110 years old and was buried in Egypt.

(Gen 50:26)
